#PORCHrait sessions are much shorter sessions than a normal family session at a park. I arrive at your home for a quick and painless session. The sessions are usually around 10 minutes at your front door or in your back yard.
If you do not want to load the family out of the house, I come to your home. Being at home means no distractions for younger age children and pets. Dads love just stepping out and then getting back to what they were doing. Moms are happy and dads are happy.
Home is your safe place. My equipment does not require me to get within 10 feet, allowing you, your loved ones, and myself to stay safe. I am usually photographing from the curb and there have even been times I have to go into a neighbor’s yard across the street!
See how #PORCHraits came about below.
During COVID-19’s stay at home order, I got out into my community and captured what families were doing at home on their own front porches. I called it the #FrontPorchProject. I was continually amazed meeting my neighbors. Some were teachers, some were doctors and nurses, some had lost their jobs, some were truck drivers, but what made me the most amazed was how we were ALL in it together and enjoying the things that are most important, and that is family. I enjoyed putting smiles on people’s faces very much. It kept me busy and it gave families something to do and word spread quickly! It was absolutely humbling many times. The messages of love that I received from even people who didn’t partake in the front porch photos were just so phenomenal. People would encourage me to keep posting photos as it brought a smile to their face during uncertain times.
After the stay at home order, I still today have been asked to do front porch and backyard photos at client’s homes. I have truly seen photography change and I kind of had a feeling it would. While I still do park locations, doing photos at a client’s home has a different feel. It’s more comfortable and it’s more relaxed. It’s different, so I still want to do it, especially if that’s what the client wants. So doing photos on your front porch or in back yard is something I decided to offer. It’s so convenient and families love it!
